Welcome to Wood Chipping Services. We offer a commercial biomass wood chipping and mechanical tree limbing service in Wiltshire and the surrounding areas. Our Jenz HEM 581 Wood Chipper is made by one of the market leaders in European wood chipping machinery, known for its innovation in design to produce the very finest quality of G30 & G50 sized wood chip. Powered by a Claas Xerion, the Jenz is capable of producing approximately 40 tonnes per hour and with an impressive feed opening of 600mm x 1200mm can cope with most sizes of timber. Over sized timber can be cracked down with our wood buster if required. Additionally we have a Binderberger Tree Shear which is capable of limbing branches up to 300mm on softwoods and 200mm on hardwoods. This is attached to an Epsilon Crane with a 12 meter reach and is ideal for mechanically removing overhanging branches or willow from river banks. All wood chip can be removed from site where necessary. We are also able to assist tree surgeons with site clearance and the removal of tree surgery waste. Get in touch, we would like to hear from you.

Frequently Asked Questions About Tree Services

Find answers to common questions about tree care and hiring professional tree service companies in UK.

Do I need a permit to remove a tree in UK?

Whether or not you need a permit to remove a tree in UK depends on local regulations. In some areas, permits are required for removing trees of a certain size or those located within protected areas.
It's essential to check with your local council or municipality for specific tree removal regulations. Reputable tree service companies are typically familiar with local regulations and can help you determine if a permit is needed.

Is it cheaper to cut down a tree yourself?

While it might seem tempting to cut down a tree yourself to save money, it's important to weigh the potential risks and costs involved.
Risks:
  • Safety: Felling a tree is extremely dangerous without proper training and equipment. Falling branches or the entire tree can cause serious injury or even death.
  • Property Damage: If the tree falls in the wrong direction, it could damage your home, vehicles, or other structures on your property.
  • Liability: If you cause damage to your neighbor's property or injure someone while cutting down a tree yourself, you could be held liable.

Costs:
  • Equipment: You'll need to invest in or rent specialized equipment like chainsaws, safety gear, ropes, and potentially a wood chipper.
  • Disposal: You'll be responsible for disposing of the tree debris, which can be time-consuming and expensive, especially for large trees.
  • Repairs: If the tree falls incorrectly and causes damage, you'll have to cover the cost of repairs.

In most cases, the risks and potential costs outweigh any perceived savings from DIY tree removal. Hiring a professional tree service company is the safest and often the most cost-effective option in the long run. They have the experience, equipment, and insurance to handle the job properly and protect you from liability.

How do I find a reputable tree service near me?

Finding a trustworthy tree service company can be challenging. Use these strategies to find the best fit:
  • Online directories: Use reputable online directories like LocalTreeSurgeon to find and compare local tree service companies.
  • Ask for recommendations: Seek referrals from friends, family, neighbors, or local garden centers.
  • Check online reviews: Read reviews and ratings on websites like Google, Yelp, and Angie's List.
  • Verify credentials: Ensure the company is licensed, insured, and employs certified arborists. You can check with your local licensing board or professional arborist associations.
  • Get multiple quotes: Contact several companies for quotes and compare their pricing, services, and experience.
  • Meet with potential companies: Schedule consultations with a few companies to discuss your needs, ask questions, and get a feel for their professionalism and expertise.
Remember, choosing a tree service company is an important decision, as it affects the health and safety of your trees and property. Taking the time to do your research can help ensure you make the best choice.

What is the difference between tree trimming and tree pruning?

While the terms 'tree trimming' and 'tree pruning' are often used interchangeably, there is a subtle difference:
Tree Trimming: Primarily focuses on improving a tree's appearance. It involves selectively removing branches to shape the tree, remove dead or diseased branches, and improve clearance for structures or utilities.
Tree Pruning: Focuses on maintaining or improving the tree's health and structure. It involves removing dead, diseased, or damaged branches to prevent the spread of disease, encourage new growth, and improve the tree's overall vigor.
In practice, trimming and pruning often overlap, and a skilled arborist will usually combine both techniques to achieve the desired results for your trees.
