Welcome to Wood Chipping Services. We offer a commercial biomass wood chipping and mechanical tree limbing service in Wiltshire and the surrounding areas. Our Jenz HEM 581 Wood Chipper is made by one of the market leaders in European wood chipping machinery, known for its innovation in design to produce the very finest quality of G30 & G50 sized wood chip. Powered by a Claas Xerion, the Jenz is capable of producing approximately 40 tonnes per hour and with an impressive feed opening of 600mm x 1200mm can cope with most sizes of timber. Over sized timber can be cracked down with our wood buster if required. Additionally we have a Binderberger Tree Shear which is capable of limbing branches up to 300mm on softwoods and 200mm on hardwoods. This is attached to an Epsilon Crane with a 12 meter reach and is ideal for mechanically removing overhanging branches or willow from river banks. All wood chip can be removed from site where necessary. We are also able to assist tree surgeons with site clearance and the removal of tree surgery waste. Frequently Asked Questions About Tree Services

Find answers to common questions about tree care and hiring professional tree service companies in UK.

How do I know if a tree needs to be removed?

Several signs indicate a tree may need to be removed:
  • Significant damage or decay: If a tree has extensive damage to its trunk, roots, or branches, or shows signs of significant decay, it may be structurally unsound and pose a hazard.
  • Leaning precariously: A tree leaning excessively towards a structure, power lines, or other valuable assets poses a risk of falling and causing damage.
  • Disease or infestation: Trees infected with diseases or infested with pests can weaken and become hazardous. Professional assessment is needed to determine if treatment is possible or if removal is necessary.
  • Root problems: Trees with damaged or compromised root systems can be unstable and pose a risk of falling. Signs include heaving soil, root exposure, or mushrooms growing at the base of the tree.
  • Interfering with structures or utilities: If a tree is growing too close to a building, foundation, power lines, or other utilities, it may need to be removed to prevent damage or interference.
  • Overcrowding or competition: Trees growing too close together can compete for resources, leading to stunted growth or decline. Selective removal may be necessary to improve the health of the remaining trees.
It's always best to consult with a qualified arborist to assess the health and safety of your trees and determine the best course of action.

What are the most common tree problems?

Trees can be affected by a variety of problems:
  • Diseases: Fungal, bacterial, or viral infections that can weaken trees, cause defoliation, or lead to death.
  • Pests: Insects or other animals that can damage leaves, branches, bark, or roots, weakening the tree and making it more susceptible to disease.
  • Environmental Stress: Drought, extreme temperatures, poor soil conditions, or pollution can stress trees, making them more vulnerable to pests and disease.
  • Mechanical Damage: Wounds caused by construction, lawnmowers, or vehicles can create entry points for pests and disease.
  • Structural Defects: Weak branches, cracks, or cavities in the trunk can weaken the tree's structure and make it prone to breakage.
  • Improper Pruning: Incorrect pruning techniques can damage trees, create wounds, and make them more susceptible to disease.
Regular inspections by a qualified arborist can help identify and address tree problems early, preventing further damage and maintaining tree health.
