After spending my working life in IT and Local Government I was made redundant in August 2012.  For years I knew that there was more to life than working 9 – 5 and being a company man.  I decided to take a chance and move into an area that was new to me, was scary and at the same time appealing.  I wanted to work outdoors  and be creative.  Working outdoors was up to then restricted to hedge laying and taking care of my fields, hedges and horses.  Now was the perfect opportunity to do something challenging, risky and dangerous!  I spent a couple of weeks in Scotland develpoing business ideas.  On returning home I enrolled on a two year part-time course in Treework and Forestry with Coleg Gwent at Usk.   I found that everybody I met was helpful and supportive and the ideas for developing my business continued to grow!….  In April 2013 I launched my company “Dennis’ Tree Services” and I’ve been moving forward ever since!  I’m always looking for ways  to enhance my company and if possible provide employment for others. I am looking for work in the private woodland management sphere having noticed that many woodlands purchased with properties are becoming unmanaged and with a little TLC can be restored and become an asset to their owner providing both fuel and recreational opportunities. Additionally, for those interested in conservation a well managed woodland will better provide homes for wild animals, birds and flora which would otherwise be unable to thrive. I will also consider stock fencing and repair. I am building a stock of materials which will be suitable for wood turners, sculptors, florists and other craft industries. Commissions taken.
